Weight Loss Aids: Can a Pill Help You Lose Weight? Tried and Tested View on These 'Miracle' Products

Fat burners, carbohydrate blockers, raspberry ketones and so on... It's very nice to imagine a pill that makes
you lose weight. A pill that once taken will result in your weight problems being resolved without any effort on your part. But sadly, they do not exist. Firstly this is because, and their manufacturers will also tell you this, they are not a miracle cure, they are designed to help you lose weight while you diet correctly, eat healthily, and exercise greatly. So here's my first point... If you do indeed diet, eat right and exercise, you will probably lose weight anyway!
I've tested several of these. I've tried thermo mixes, ketones, fat burners and strippers. They all had at least a month's test and they were taken as per the dose advised on the bottle. They all contain similar ingredients; caffeine, cayenne powder, raspberry ketones, green tea, black pepper extract, amino acids and so on. There is research on all these ingredients that suggests that individually they can aid the body in losing weight, be it by increasing metabolism or blocking the digestion of some other things we eat.
The problem is the lack of research into these products. In some cases some of the ingredients have actually never been tested on humans just animals. In some of the other ingredients you'd have to eat an impossible amount in order for it to have an effect on you. Despite this hoards of people are jumping on the bandwagon and it's still a very profitable industry. It certainly dragged me in for a little while with the hope I could shed those last few pounds and decrease my body fat percentage that will inevitably make me a much faster cyclist.
So did I lose weight while taking these? Well yes. Was it solely because of these pills? Well no. The times when I lost weight were when I changed something in either my diet or exercise regime. The pills maybe made me concentrate more on losing weight and body fat percentage but perhaps this was some sort of placebo effect. But you can see from this just how hard it would be to prove whether these pills work or not. On their own definitely not. As part of a healthy eating and exercise regime, possibly, but again at what point does the diet and exercise stop and the pills begin? Tough one.
Carbohydrate blockers are a perfect example of how pointless spending your money on these products is. If you want to block the amount of carbs digested by your body just stop eating as many! Eat more protein and fat. Don't spend your money on food that you don't want your body to use as fuel and certainly don't spend even more money on blockers. There is no medical excuse for this either. If you say to me 'well I can't eat some proteins or fats so I eat carbs - but I don't want to absorb it all... ' blah blah blah! No excuse!
So what's my final verdict? Placebo at best. As I say at the beginning of this article if you eat healthy foods and exercise regularly you will lose weight. If you want an expensive pill that might coincidentally lose you a bit of weight then fair enough, but while you're throwing your money about how about chucking some my way?
